In perhaps the most inevitable move of the Eagles' offseason, new head coach Doug Pederson is reunited with his backup quarterback from the Chiefs, Chase Daniel. And, hey, it's a great signing! Sure, it likely has very little effect between the white lines, but Daniel's presence will surely be felt.
Where the Eagles stand to benefit most with Daniel is in the quarterbacks room. He'll be familiar with the offense and its terminology, and will not only be able to help get Sam Bradford up to speed, but also the developmental rookie the club is practically certain to draft.
As far as what would happen if Daniel were ever thrust into action, that's another story. Frankly, nobody can claim to know. He's only attempted 77 passes in a six-year NFL career, with both of his starts coming in meaningless Week 17 games. An undersized, undrafted player out of Missouri, we can speculate it's probably not good if he's forced to keep the ship afloat for any length of time.
If competent performance from the backup is your top priority, the Eagles probably would've been better off with Mark Sanchez, who's expected to be traded or released. Then again, it's not like they were really getting that from Sanchez, either.
