Jason Peters was right. He will play against the Saints.
The veteran left tackle, who was listed as questionable Friday with a quad injury, is active against the Saints for the 1 p.m. kickoff.
Peters left last week's game early after his injury, which he suffered late against the Jets the week before, flared up. On Thursday, Peters declared he would play Sunday. Why was he sure? "Because I am who I am," he told reporters.
Last week, when Peters came out of the game, guard Matt Tobin shifted to left tackle and Dennis Kelly replaced him at right guard. During this week at practice, head coach Chip Kelly said there was a possibility Lane Johnson could shift from right to left tackle if needed. Although, Kelly said he would want to get Johnson some practice time at left tackle before playing him there.
Linebacker Kiko Alonso (knee), defensive end Brandon Bair (groin) and linebacker Mychal Kendricks are all inactive after being ruled out Friday.
The other inactives, joining those three, are QB Thad Lewis, OL Julian Vandervelde, CB Denzel Rice and RB Kenjon Barner.
Linebacker Marcus Smith is active for just the second time this season. He was also active against the Jets.
Saints inactives: P Thomas Morstead, OT Terron Armstead, QB Garrett Grayson, DE Obum Gwacham, DE Bobby Richardson, FB Austin Johnson, G Jahri Evans.
In place of Armstead, the team’s starting left tackle, rookie Andrus Peat will get the start. In place of Evans, the team’s starting right guard, former Eagle Mike McGlynn will start.
