Marcus Smith, the Eagles’ only experienced backup outside linebacker, was carted off the field with a hamstring early in Thursday’s practice.
There was no immediate word from the Eagles on the severity of the injury.
The injury makes an already precarious situation at outside linebacker potentially far worse.
Smith got hurt during a kickoff drill during joint practices with the Ravens at the NovaCare Complex.
He was engaged with a Ravens player, went down to the ground after the play and stayed there for about 30 seconds before limping off the field.
He was helped into the front of a waiting cart, and he rode inside with his head down.

Smith, last year’s first-round pick, struggled through a lost rookie year but had been playing better so far this training camp.
The Eagles are already extremely thin at outside linebacker behind starters Connor Barwin and Brandon Graham.
They lost Travis Long to an ACL tear for a second straight year, Brandon Hepburn was waived injured last Friday with an abdominal injury, and they released Jordan DeWalt-Ondijo on Tuesday with a knee injury suffered in the preseason game against the Colts.
Healthy backups now on the roster are Bryan Braman, Diaheem Watkins, Deontae Skinner, Dasman McCullum and Brad Jones.
Skinner joined the team last Friday, and McCullum joined the team on Tuesday. Watkins has been on the roster since Aug. 5.
Watkins, an undrafted rookie out of UAB, is probably the farthest ahead out of that bunch. He led Conference USA last year with 10 sacks and was a four-year starter at UAB.
Defensive end Vinny Curry has also gotten some reps at outside linebacker.
