Here’s one way to get science fiction fans to tune in to the big Monday Night Football game between the Eagles and New York Giants. Get word out that maybe-possibly the new full-length trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens might-perhaps just run during the television broadcast.
This rumor comes originally from a report by Jason Ward for MakingStarWars.com which revealed the trailer does indeed drop on October 19, adding the belief is it will be during the game. A Reddit user that goes by the handle “DatESPNGUY” is seemingly confirming the news, for what that’s worth, adding there will be special Star Wars-themed graphics related to Eagles-Giants.
It certainly makes sense for two reasons. First, the Eagles-Giants game will easily be the most watched program on television on Monday before any Star Wars fans might be drawn in. Second, ESPN is airing the game and owned by Disney, which also happens to be producing Force Awakens.
So it’s probably safe to say that cat has been left out of the bag. Ward adds an official announcement should come beforehand, and don’t worry about missing it you have tickets to the game. DatESPNGUY says the trailer should play in the stadium as well!
