NFL Notes: Dez Bryant (foot) officially out vs. Giants

Share

IRVING, Texas -- Dez Bryant has been ruled out for the Dallas Cowboys' game at the New York Giants on Sunday, delaying the All-Pro receiver's return from a broken right foot at least another week.

Bryant was downgraded from doubtful Saturday, a day after he didn't travel with the team to New York. He hasn't played since getting injured in the opener against the Giants.

The Cowboys (2-3) have lost all three games without Bryant and quarterback Tony Romo, who broke his left collarbone a week after Bryant went out. After the game against the Giants (3-3), Romo will miss at least three more games.

Receiver Brice Butler will be available for Dallas after missing a loss to New England with a strained hamstring. The Cowboys traded for Butler after Bryant's injury.

Patriots: Team activates WR Brandon LaFell from PUP list
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots have added receiver Brandon LaFell to the 53-man roster in time for Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

LaFell had been on the reserve/physically unable to perform list since Sept. 5 with a foot injury.

LaFell had a career-high 74 receptions, 953 yards and seven touchdowns last season. He added 13 receptions for 199 yards and two touchdowns in the postseason.

Jets: Team offers punter Steve Weatherford job during radio show
NEW YORK -- Steve Weatherford was co-hosting a radio show Saturday morning when he got the phone call - and not from just any listener.

The New York Jets were on the line - his cellphone - and they were offering the veteran punter a job.

A few hours later, Weatherford was back with the Jets. Punter Ryan Quigley had been added to the team's injury list as questionable with an injured right shin, and New York needed someone for the game Sunday against the New England Patriots (see full story).
