NFL Notes: Ravens' Suggs arrested on suspended driver's license

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs was arrested Friday on a suspended driver's license after investigators say his car hit a curb and he told them he may have been asleep.

Officers responding to a report of a crash in the Phoenix suburb of Scottsdale followed a fluid trail to a grocery store parking lot where they found Suggs' BMW sedan with fresh damage.

Suggs was not impaired and told officers he possibly fell asleep before the crash, police Sgt. Ben Hoster said.

He was released after being arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a suspended license, Hoster said.

"Terrell alerted us early this morning about the situation and we are looking into it," Ravens Senior Vice President of Public & Community Relations Kevin Byrne said.

Suggs' representative at EAG Sports Management, Denise White, issued a statement that read in part: "Police were called and upon speaking to Terrell found his license to be suspended for speeding tickets. ... Terrell will let the judicial process take its course and fix his license issues."

The 33-year-old Suggs is a six-time Pro Bowl linebacker and a lynchpin of the Ravens defense. He tore his Achilles tendon in the 2015 opener at Denver and missed the rest of the year.

Although Suggs has kept a low profile since the injury, general manager Ozzie Newsome expects the linebacker back in 2016. (see full story)

BILLS: Veteran CB Leodis McKelvin cut as cap casualty
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Veteran cornerback Leodis McKelvin became the Buffalo Bills' latest salary cap-cutting casualty.

The move announced by the team Friday did not come as a surprise. General manager Doug Whaley said last week he was seeking to restructure McKelvin's contract to free up payroll before the NFL's free-agency period, which opens Wednesday.

Buffalo's 2008 first-round draft pick was entering the final year of his contract and due to make a $3.1 million base salary. It was deemed too expensive for a player filling a backup role behind starters Stephon Gilmore and Ronald Darby.

McKelvin's release comes a few days after the Bills cut high-priced defensive end Mario Williams as well as veteran offensive lineman Kraig Urbik and running back Boobie Dixon. On Thursday, Buffalo freed up additional payroll by restructuring the final two years of defensive back Corey Graham's contract.

The Bills need to free up space to address various needs in free agency, as well as afford to re-sign their own pending free agents. They took a big step in that direction when starting left tackle Cordy Glenn signed his franchise-tag tender Friday for one-year at $13.7 million.

BRONCOS: Super Bowl MVP Miller to be on 'Dancing with the Stars'
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Von Miller won't have to worry about getting fined for the dances he's about to come up with next.

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Associated Press on Thursday night that the Super Bowl MVP will be a contestant on ABC's upcoming season of "Dancing with the Stars."

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the show's full cast won't be revealed until next week on "Good Morning America."

BSN Denver first reported Miller's scheduled appearance on the popular prime-time show.

Miller has made a career of sacking quarterbacks and celebrating with different dances, some of which have gotten him fined. His "Key & Peele" sack dance last season cost him $11,567.

Since Miller's pair of sack strips of Cam Newton led the Denver Broncos past the Carolina Panthers 24-10 in the Super Bowl, he's been a staple on the talk-show circuit, ESPN and the NFL Network. He also made a cameo on "Saturday Night Live" and presented at the Grammy Awards.

The Broncos placed their exclusive franchise tag on him this week, buying them more time to work out a long-term contact that's expected to make the 26-year-old linebacker the NFL's highest-paid defender.
