NFL rumors: Buzz continues to grow around Josh McDaniels and Eagles

It certainly feels like there has been a momentum shift in the Eagles’ search for a head coach.

It definitely appears like Josh McDaniels is the new favorite after the Patriots’ offensive coordinator met with the Eagles for a lengthy interview in Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday.

The latest tweet from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler seems to indicate that McDaniels might be the guy.

While the Eagles have not yet scheduled a virtual interview with Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, as far as I know, that interview request is still on the table.

And the Eagles did interview Todd Bowles on Monday. So why would they go through that process if they had definitely landed on McDaniels already?

But it does seem like McDaniels is gaining steam as the favorite. Even a mysterious tweet from Bieniemy’s agency made it seem like McDaniels to the Eagles was all but a done deal.

And some betting sites seem to agree.

According to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark, the interview with McDaniels was a long one and lasted past 9 p.m. with Jeff Lurie and other members of the Eagles’ staff.

Including Bowles, we know the Eagles have interviewed seven candidates for the job: Joe Brady, Robert Saleh, Arthur Smith, Jerod Mayo, Duce Staley, Bowles and McDaniels. In addition, they reportedly requested a few more: Brandon Staley, Bieniemy and Kellen Moore.

Of those 10 coaches, three have already been hired elsewhere.
