Eagles expect several starters to return vs. Giants on TNF

Doug Pederson on Wednesday morning said he anticipates several key Eagles returning to action for Thursday's game against the Giants.

Among those players expected to return: Lane Johnson (ankle), DeSean Jackson (hamstring), Avonte Maddox (ankle), Duke Riley (rib).

Meanwhile, Pederson said Alshon Jeffery (foot) will likely miss another week.

It seems like the Eagles gave several of those players extra rest time against the Ravens to get them back for this division matchup against the Giants.

Johnson has been dealing with that surgically repaired ankle all season. After Johnson left two straight games early, the Eagles rested him against the Ravens and are playing him four days later.

Does Pederson think Johnson will last the whole game?

“As far as Lane goes, I do feel comfortable,” Pederson said. “Obviously, with him missing last week and this being a short week with him getting the rest. I do feel comfortable and confident. Obviously anything is possible so don’t quote me on that, right?”

Jackson, 33, has missed the last three games with a hamstring injury. So it'll be interesting to see how much he plays against the Giants.

Here's what we know:

Playing: DeSean Jackson, Johnson, Maddox, Riley

Out: Jeffery, Zach Ertz, Malik Jackson, Miles Sanders

The Eagles could have started the season with Jeffery on the PUP list but instead he has taken up a roster spot for seven weeks.

“Alshon still with just a short week, it’s hard to give him the reps he needs, so leaning toward out with Alshon,” Pederson said.

The only other update from Pederson on injuries was sort of a non-update. He was asked about Jalen Reagor and Dallas Goedert, who are both on Injured Reserve but are eligible to return.

“Not going to put a timetable on either one of them,” Pederson said, “but can tell you both are doing well and are on schedule.”
