Eagles Q&A: Andre Chachere shares his love for cereal & dessert

Eagles week during the 2022 regular season, we’re going through the Eagles’ media guide to find an interesting nugget.

The Eagles’ PR interns do a great job filling out these little oddities in the media guide and they serve as a good way to meet the player behind the helmet.

This week, we chatted with Andre Chachere — recently signed to the 53-man roster — about his guilty pleasure: “Any dessert. I love dessert, literally anything. Cereal is big too. I’ll eat cereal at like 12 o’clock at night.”

Me: Let’s start with cereal.

Chachere: Mmhmm.

Me: You’re a late-night cereal guy?

Chachere: I could eat cereal breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, any of it.

Me: OK. What’s the go-to?

Chachere: Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Lucky Charms.

Me: I’ll give you that. Those are good ones. Have those always been the go-tos.

Chachere: I think when I was younger it was more like Cocoa Pebbles or Fruity Pebbles. But now it’s Cinnamon Toast Crunch. And if my kids want Lucky Charms, I’ll go with that.

Me: The refined palette is Cinnamon Toast Crunch?

Chachere: (Laughter) Yup.

Me: I get it. I’m assuming you’re a normal person … but cereal first and then milk? Right?

Chachere: Yes, yes, yes.

Me: It’s then acceptable if you want seconds to go cereal after milk?

Chachere: Yeah, then that’s OK.

Me: I just wanted to make sure. How about desserts. It says you like everything but is there —

Chachere: As long as it’s not all chocolate, then everything goes. And I mean everything. There’s not a sweet that I don’t like.

Me: Say you’re hungry and you’re walking through the grocery store, what’s hitting your eye?

Chachere: Well, see, that’s the thing. I can’t go grocery store shopping when I’m hungry because I’m going to buy everything.

Me: That’s fair.

Chachere: But cookies, if I see some cupcakes. I do it all.

Me: How about baked goods. Is someone in your family a baker? My mom was a big baker.

Chachere: When we were younger, it was me and then four other brothers. So there was a whole bunch of boys in the house. And my mom always did cookies, so I think that’s how it was started. And now with my kids and my wife, even if they don’t want to eat the cookies, I’ll eat them. If there’s 20 cookies, I’ll eat 10. ‘Oh, y’all don’t want any? I’ll eat more.’

Me: You’ve got holidays coming up. Tough time of year for you?

Chachere: Oh, tough. I gotta get a few more workouts in just to burn it off.

Me: How about Thanksgiving. It’s a big pie time. Some people are hit or miss on pies.

Chachere: I’m really just an apple pie guy.

Me: Ice cream or no?

Chachere: Hey, it’s a plus. If you’ve got it, I’ll take it.

Me: You’re not turning it down?

Chachere: Nah, I’m not turning it down.
