Eagles will be very shorthanded vs. Washington on Sunday

The Eagles will be very shorthanded as they finish out the 2020 regular season on Sunday night against Washington.

At Friday’s practice many of the Eagles’ best players were not practicing and have been ruled out for Sunday’s game.

Here’s the full injury report from Friday:

Out: DE Derek Barnett (calf), LB Shaun Bradley (neck), DT Fletcher Cox (neck), TE Dallas Goedert (calf), WR DeSean Jackson (ankle), T Jordan Mailata (concussion), LB Duke Riley (biceps), TE Richard Rodgers (ankle), RB Miles Sanders (knee)

Questionable: CB Michael Jacquet (calf)

If this game had playoff implications for the Birds, some of those players would probably suit up. But the Eagles were eliminated from playoff contention last week.

The Eagles who are on the field will certainly try to win on Sunday night, but it appears the Washington Football Team will be given quite an advantage as they play for the division crown on Sunday Night Football.

The injury list for the Eagles is certainly good news for Washington but bad news for the Giants and Cowboys. Those two teams play early on Sunday and the winner of that game would win the division if the Eagles beat Washington.

The Eagles began the week as a slight favorite but are now three-point underdogs, according to PointsBet.

While the Eagles are playing for pride on Sunday, a loss would actually be much better long-term. The Eagles right now hold the No. 6 draft spot but could end up anywhere from 3-10 depending on the results Sunday.

This will be just the fourth missed game of Fletcher Cox’s nine-year career.

Without Mailata, the Eagles will start Matt Pryor and Brett Toth at their tackle positions.
