Former Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho has turned himself, among other things, into a Fox Sports hot take artist in his post-playing career. He brings a combination of playing experience and intellectual curiosity to the sports conversation, and he's good at it.
He's also not afraid to speak his mind.
Which is why after news broke Thursday that the Eagles have hired up-and-comer Nick Sirianni as their next head coach, Acho gave a scorching take on the Eagles' front office and their decision to go with a 39-year-old who has just two years of offensive coordinator experience and wasn't considered a hot coaching candidate this offseason.

Here's Acho's take:
"I don't get this hire. Actually, I do get it. I didn't want to be honest with y'all, because in playing for the Eagles, I'm not allowed to tell y'all 100% of the truth. When you're in the locker room, you can't say everything. But it's about time to say some things.
"What we know about Eagles management is this: they want to be ale to control the situation. Doug Pederson is no longer the Eagles' head coach, not because they struggled this year, contrary to what you read. He's no longer the Eagles head coach because management wanted to tell Doug Pederson who to hire and who to fire. Doug Pederson looked at himself and said, 'Look, I've won Super Bowls. You're not going to tell me what to do.'
"But you know who Eagles management can control? They can control a coach with no head coaching experience. They can control a coach with a limited resume. They can control a coach with a minimal name. I believe the Eagles just hired a puppet that management can control."

Well, you can't say Acho tried to hide his feelings here!
Acho spent two seasons in Philadelphia, the first two years of the Chip Kelly experience, when Howie Roseman still had sway over personnel, so he certainly has at least some insight into the front office's inner workings.
I'd say there's probably a middle ground here between viewing Sirianni as a non-threatening presence to someone like Howie Roseman, and also viewing him as a promising offensive mind who could theoretically be a good hire.
Acho did go on to say he's not claiming that Sirianni can't succeed in Philly just because, in Acho's eyes, the guy is inexperienced and unqualified.
But he did make it pretty clear that he views the front office dynamic the same way many Eagles fans did after Pederson was fired earlier this month:
Howie Roseman wants to keep his control, and Jeffrey Lurie wants Howie Roseman to have what he wants.
We'll see where Sirianni fits in that equation.
