First-round OL prospect really wants to be an Eagle

The Eagles' decision to move on from Carson Wentz was a bold one, reshaping their franchise with one big offseason, but it sounds like the guy who might replace Wentz is already held in high esteem among the next generation of football players.

We've heard a number of stories this offseason about players who are impressed by Jalen Hurts' talent and work ethic, and you can add another one to the list: Virginia Tech offensive lineman Christian Darrisaw.

Darrisaw, who is expected to go in the first round in this week's NFL Draft, was asked by the league for the one player he'd most like to play with. His answer was a ringing endorsement for Hurts:

"My dream position going into the league would definitely be protecting Jalen Hurts. Just seeing his journey and motivation, I definitely would like to play with a guy like that."

That's a strong thumbs up from Darrisaw!

Think about it: other guys were saying Tom Brady, Tyreek Hill, and Davante Adams, but Darrisaw chose Hurts. Say what you want about Hurts' showing in his rookie year - whether it was impressive or inconsistent depends on who you talk to - but this is a great sign for the respect Hurts has among his peers, and soon-to-be-peers.

And it's not like this is just some Alabama or Oklahoma guy who used to play with Hurts, the way Penei Sewell said he'd like to play with Justin Herbert. Darrisaw and Hurts have never played together.

We'll see this weekend whether Hurts is going to be QB1 for real this fall.
