Pederson already linked to an intriguing head coach job

The dust has barely settled on the Eagles' decision to move on from Doug Pederson, but the now-experienced head coach is apparently already an extremely hot commodity.

Assuming he doesn't want to take any time off, Pederson is reportedly considered a likely candidate for at least one of the seven open head coaching jobs around the league:

The New York Jets.

Rumblings are coming from all corners of the football reporting internet about Pederson's possible next landing spot being New York:

Where there's smoke, there's likely fire, right? No, this is not a 100% guarantee that Pederson will be the next Jets head coach, but there sure seems to be some trade winds blowing towards at least an interview.

Earlier this week I examined the possibility of Pederson heading to the Jets, and decided it made a lot of sense:

"Pederson and Jets general manager Joe Douglas had success when they worked together in Philadelphia, winning a Super Bowl in 2017, and it's entirely possible that Douglas looks at Pederson as the main reason Carson Wentz was successful in 2017, and sees Howie Roseman as the main reason the Eagles have struggled since.

"Douglas has a fascinating offseason coming up, with Sam Darnold in tow and the No. 2 pick in a QB-laden Draft. If Douglas likes what Pederson brings to the table in terms of working with a young quarterback, after watching that exact situation in person in Philadelphia, perhaps Douglas would want to bring Pederson in to New York to work with Darnold, or Justin Fields, or Zach Wilson - whoever they decide is the QB of the future."

Crazier things have happened. The Jets have cycled through six head coaches since the turn of the century, and haven't reached the postseason since 2010. They need a jolt, and someone who can turn a locker room into a place players want to be.

Doug Pederson just might be the guy to bring it all to New York.
