Reagor's rookie season ends with a concussion in finale

Jalen Reagor’s rookie season ended in the second quarter on Sunday night when he was officially ruled out by the Eagles with a concussion.

Reagor, 22, spent some time in the blue tent before heading into the locker room late in the first half against Washington. He was quickly ruled out by the Eagles.

So Reagor’s rookie season ends in disappointing fashion. This head injury is the third significant injury he suffered this year after the shoulder injury during training camp and the torn UCL in his thumb in Week 2.

The first-round pick from TCU had one catch for 15 yards on Sunday night before the injury. He also had a chance to catch a deep ball but couldn’t haul it in on a play where Washington was called for a defensive hold.

For the season, Reagor finishes with 31 catches for 396 yards and a touchdown in 11 games.

“It wasn’t enough,” Reagor said last week. “It wasn’t enough for the team, it wasn’t enough personally. Just gotta keep improving. Sometimes you gotta look yourself in the mirror and you see where you can improve. That’s all you can do is incline and that’s what I look to do.”

Overall, pretty disappointing numbers for the No. 21 pick, especially considering Justin Jefferson, who was taken the spot after him, just set the rookie record for receiving yards on Sunday.

When asked about the comparisons to other rookie receivers, Reagor pointed out that they’re all in different situations. Who knows if Jefferson would have been great in Philadelphia but it’s not easy to see him have success a year after the Eagles took J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and other receivers after him have become Pro Bowlers.

“When you go through things, it builds you up,” he said. “I feel like my lows are going to prepare me for my highs. I’m not worried. This is my first year. If I’m going to sit here and bash myself about one, not even a complete year. I mean, I’m looking to play years. So I’ll be just fine.”
