Quad slowing Byron Maxwell, but he thinks he'll play

Eagles cornerback Byron Maxwell admitted Tuesday that he still cannot run full speed after suffering a quad injury early in the Week 4 loss to the Redskins, but he thinks he'll play Sunday against the Saints.

"How it's looking right now, I don't think I'll be out," Maxwell said. "It feels a little better, but I still can't really run. Slowing down is hard."

Starters Maxwell and Mychal Kendricks left after the Eagles' opening drive, which resulted in a field goal for Washington.

Maxwell played just seven snaps in the game.

Rookie Eric Rowe replaced Maxwell and seemed to play OK, but he was called for an iffy pass interference penalty in the end zone that placed the ball at the 1-yard line and led to a Redskins TD.

The Eagles could get a few defensive players back for Sunday's meeting between 1-3 teams. Defensive end Cedric Thornton, who had been dealing with a hand injury, practiced Tuesday. So did Taylor Hart, who had a shoulder injury.

Kendricks aggravated his hamstring strain in Week 4 and his status is up in the air. But Eagles defensive coordinator Bill Davis did say Tuesday there's a chance that all of his guys except Kiko Alonso (knee) and Brandon Bair (groin) play Sunday.
