Report: Eagles offered Malcolm Jenkins, picks for Brandin Cooks

Before the Eagles signed Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith to bolster their underachieving receiving corps, the hottest name linked to the Birds was Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

The Eagles offered safety Malcolm Jenkins, a third-round pick and a fourth-round pick for Cooks, according to Pro Football Talk, but the Saints wanted a second-round pick plus Jenkins in return.

In a surprise move, Cooks was traded to the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots along with a fourth-round pick in exchange for a first- and-third-round pick.

Jenkins is one of the Eagles' best defensive players and a vocal leader on the team. He has started every game in all three years he has been in Philadelphia.
