Report: Eagles to work out QB Paxton Lynch on Thursday

The Eagles' quarterback world tour is set to make another stop on Thursday.

This time, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the team's brass will work out Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch. Rapoport also reported team owner Jeff Lurie is on this extended trip.

With the team's meeting with Lynch on Thursday, they will have seen this draft's top three quarterbacks — and Kevin Hogan — within a four-day span, according to reports.

Monday: Jared Goff

Tuesday: Kevin Hogan

Wednesday: Carson Wentz

Thursday: Paxton Lynch

The Eagles have said all along that they're probably going to select a quarterback in the draft, which is from April 28-30. Goff, Wentz and Lynch are widely considered to be the top three QB prospects in this year's draft. While it's possible Wentz and Goff are off the board by the time the Eagles pick at No. 8, there's a chance Lynch could still be available. Lynch is a big-bodied quarterback who the Eagles met with at the combine and have seemed at least a little interested in.

Last week at the NFL owners' meetings, head coach Doug Pederson said he preferred private workouts to school pro days. This gives him a better chance to evaluate the prospects in a 1-on-1 setting.

The Eagles already have Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel on their roster as the starter and backup quarterback, but Pederson said he thinks he can find his third-stringer in this year's draft. Pederson downplayed the idea the Eagles would use their first-round pick on a quarterback, but it's apparent the Eagles are at least thinking about it after working out the top QBs in this year's class.

If they don't use that top pick on a passer, Pederson, without naming names, said there are other players outside those top three in the draft who would make a good third-string quarterback.
