As the Eagles' losses mounted, so did the criticism of Chip Kelly. Make no mistake, some of the same questions about Kelly's system will be asked as the season goes on because the Eagles aren't going to win by three or four scores the rest of the year.
But Kelly and the Eagles' coaching staff showed an ability to adapt in their 39-17 win over the Saints Sunday, and that caught the eye of former Eagles linebacker and current CSN analyst Seth Joyner.
"After so many weeks of just lambasting this coaching staff for not putting this team in the best possible position to win, today I'm gonna give Chip some kudos," Joyner said Monday on Comcast SportsNet's Philly Sports Talk.
"I'm gonna give him some kudos because he made changes to his offense. The offense looked great except for the turnovers by Sam Bradford."
Joyner was also impressed by defensive coordinator Billy Davis' game plan against the watered-down but still dynamic New Orleans offense run by Drew Brees and Sean Payton.
"Even Billy Davis made some changes," Joyner continued. "We saw some five-man (defensive) line. We saw some more aggression in the first half.
"I tip my hat to [Kelly and Davis]. They don't live in a box. The guru of Chip Kelly came out [Sunday] and showed there's more to their offense than a wheel route."
