For the second straight week, the Eagles' run game got going. And for the second straight week, the Eagles' entire starting offensive line played every snap.
That's probably not a coincidence.
The line of Jason Peters, Allen Barbre, Jason Kelce, Matt Tobin and Lane Johnson played all 78 offensive snaps against the Giants on Monday night. The team rushed for 155 yards, with DeMarco Murray picking up 109 of them.
After the Eagles had 84 offensive snaps against the Saints, they had 78 against the Giants. That many plays against an opposing defense can really wear it out.
Murray was on the field for 44 offensive snaps, while Ryan Mathews (who came into the game with a groin injury) was on the field for 19.
Without Nelson Agholor (ankle), the receiving corps was already thin. Then, Riley Cooper and Josh Huff dealt with what seemed to be minor knee injuries during the game. That led to 50 snaps for veteran Miles Austin. Even Seyi Ajirotutu got one offensive snap.
On defense, DeMeco Ryans played 38 snaps in the first half before leaving with a hamstring injury. After the game, he said he expected to be back next Sunday night against the Panthers. He didn't play for long against the Giants but he was productive. Ryans had five tackles, two passes defensed, a fumble recovery and the tide-changing interception. Not bad for a half of football.
NFL
Vinny Curry had a nice night for his limited snaps too. Curry, who didn't have a sack coming into the game, played 19 snaps. He had 1½ sacks, three quarterback hits and one tackle for loss.
