The Eagles’ training staff just got even busier.
The Eagles added another oft-injured veteran Monday, agreeing to terms on a one-year, $2.3 million deal with wide receiver Miles Austin, according to a league source.
Austin, who turns 31 in June, still must pass his physical for the deal to become official.
The contract agreement was first reported by NFL Network.
Austin caught 150 passes for 2,361 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2009 and 2010 but has battled hamstring injuries since.
During that two-year period, Austin had the fifth-most yards and fifth-most touchdowns in the NFL and averaged 15.7 yards per catch.
That production earned Austin two Pro Bowl selections and a $54 million contract extension that included $17 million in guaranteed money.
But in four seasons since, Austin has averaged just 51 catches for 583 yards and 3 1/2 touchdowns. He spent 2006 through 2013 with Dallas and last year with the Browns.
During that four-year span, he ranks 58th in the NFL in yards and 53rd in touchdowns and has averaged 13.0 yards per catch.
Like other recent acquisitions Kiko Alonso, Sam Bradford, DeMarco Murray and Walter Thurmond, Austin has missed significant time recently with injuries.
Austin missed 15 games from 2011 through 2015, mainly because of serious hamstring issues. He missed the last month of last year after suffering a kidney injury in a game in Buffalo.
Murray and Austin spent the 2011 through 2013 seasons together with the Cowboys. All three of those teams went 8-8.
Austin becomes only the fourth wide receiver with any NFL experience that the Eagles have under contract, joining Jordan Matthews, Riley Cooper and Josh Huff.
In his one year in Cleveland, Austin caught 47 passes for 568 yards and two TDs in 12 games. His only games over 60 yards were his last two — 64 yards at Atlanta and 86 at Buffalo.
Austin ranks eighth in Cowboys history with 4,481 receiving yards, 10th with 301 catches and 10th with 34 touchdown catches.
Austin grew up in Garfield in North Jersey, where he was known more for his track exploits than football. He was a state champ in the javelin and third in the state championships in the triple jump.
He attended low-profile Monmouth University in West Long Branch, where he broke all the school’s receiving records.
In his first three years in Dallas, Austin caught just 18 passes for 354 yards, playing mainly on special teams.
But he broke out in 2009, and in 2010 had seven catches for 82 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys’ 34-14 wild-card win over the Eagles.
In 16 career games against the Eagles, he had 35 catches for 484 yards and four touchdowns.
There was no comment on Austin from the Eagles.
