Well, that was some first period.
Three goals during a period is not uncommon. Three goals like the ones that were scored during the opening stanza of the Flyers-Blue Jackets game Thursday night is pretty uncommon.
It made for a wacky and weird start to the game at Nationwide Arena.
Oliver Bjorkstrand started the scoring 44 seconds into the action with a goal that nobody could tell was an actual goal because the puck got stuck in the net.
Nick Foligno then added to Columbus' lead with a marker you'll see on highlight reels throughout the rest of the season. Everybody saw that one.
Travis Konecny punctuated the craziness with another tally in which the puck got caught in the net. You can watch all three goals in the video above.
The hockey gods sure weren't taking it easy on the great Flyers play-by-play broadcaster Jim Jackson.
