
ST. LOUIS -- Kevin Shattenkirk scored the decisive goal in the sixth round of the shootout to lift the St. Louis Blues to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night for their fourth straight win.
David Backes and Troy Brouwer scored in the third period for the Blues and Jake Allen stopped 33 shots through overtime to earn his 22nd win of the season. Patrik Berglund and Troy Brouwer also had goals in the tiebreaker.
Andrew Ladd scored in the second period and Artemi Panarin tied it late in the third for the Blackhawks, who fell to 32-0-3 win leading after two periods. Corey Crawford had 28 saves (see full recap).
Nylander, Soshnikov help Maple Leafs beat Islanders in SO
TORONTO -- Nikita Soshnikov held the puck on his backhand before flinging it between Islanders goalie Thomas Greiss' pads.
The 22-year-old rookie, taking the first shootout attempt of his NHL career, scored the only goal of the tiebreaker to lift the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 4-3 victory over the New York Islanders on Wednesday night.
Soshnikov was one of three rookies to shine for Toronto as 19-year-old William Nylander got the tying goal late in regulation and 23-year-old Zach Hyman also scored (see full recap).
