Best of NHL: Red Wings rally for win, move 3 points ahead of Flyers

SUNRISE, Fla. -- The Detroit Red Wings took another step in their quest for the playoffs.

Luke Glendening scored the go-ahead goal, Pavel Datsyuk had two goals and the Red Wings rebounded from a two-goal deficit and topped the Florida Panthers 5-3 on Saturday night.

The Red Wings won their second straight and lead the Philadelphia Flyers by three points for the final wild-card spot in the Atlantic Division. The Flyers lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 earlier Saturday (see game story).

Dylan Larkin had a goal and an assist, Tomas Tatar also scored and Niklas Kronwall recorded two assists for the Red Wings, who got 23 saves from Jimmy Howard (see full recap).

Wild take down Hurricanes in shootout
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Charlie Coyle and Zach Parise helped the Minnesota Wild to some relief at home and an important second point.

Coyle and Parise scored in the shootout, and Minnesota kept pace in the race for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference with a 3-2 win against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.

David Jones and Jason Zucker scored in regulation, and Devan Dubnyk made 31 saves for the Wild, who are one point behind idle Colorado for eighth in the West (see full recap).

Blue Jackets get best of Devils again
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets trail the New Jersey Devils in the standings by nine points. It hasn't looked that way when the teams have shared the same rink, though.

Rookie Oliver Bjorkstrand got his first two NHL goals in the third period and the Blue Jackets beat the Devils 6-3 on Saturday night to move to 4-0-0 in the season series.

The Jackets are also 5-0-1 in the past six meetings. The teams play for the final time this season on Sunday at the Prudential Center (see full recap).

Sharks solve Lundqvist late, top Rangers
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- For more than 40 minutes, San Jose struggled to get anything past Henrik Lundqvist. Joe Thornton then knocked in a rebound that opened the floodgates for three goals in a quick burst that turned a tight game into a comfortable win.

Thornton broke a tie early in the third before Joel Ward got his second goal of the day to help send the Sharks to a 4-1 victory over Lundqvist and the New York Rangers on Saturday.

"I liked our game through 40 minutes," coach Peter DeBoer said. "I thought if we stuck with it, kept pushing and kept pushing that eventually we would find a crack and I think that happened," (see full recap).
