DETROIT -- Justin Abdelkader scored the tiebreaking goal late in the third period to lift the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.

Marko Dano and Tyler Myers scored for Winnipeg and Michael Hutchinson finished with 32 saves.

On the go-ahead score, Tomas Tatar intercepted Myers' pass behind the net and passed to Abdelkader in the slot, who shot the puck top shelf for his 17th of the season with 4:36 remaining (see full recap).

Hurricanes edge Bruins in overtime
BOSTON -- Phillip Di Giuseppe scored on a rebound 1:30 into overtime and the Carolina Hurricanes earned a 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.

Di Giuseppe had a wide-open net when Boston goalie Tuukka Rask couldn't corral the rebound on Jeff Skinner's breakaway.

The officials reviewed the play for a few minutes before ruling there was no interference when Skinner made contact with Rask outside the crease.

It was the fourth OT game in a row for the Bruins, who still pulled ahead of Tampa Bay for sole possession of the Atlantic Division lead with the single point.

Elias Lindholm and Nathan Gerbe also scored for Carolina and Cam Ward stopped 30 shots. Riley Nash had two assists for Carolina.

Loui Eriksson and David Pastrnak scored for Boston, which still hasn't lost in regulation since Feb. 28 (see full recap).

Devante Smith-Pelly and Zajac scored on successive shots for New Jersey that came more than 18 minutes apart as the Devils opened a three-game California swing by winning for the third time in 11 games. Zajac also added an empty-net goal to help New Jersey match last season's win total of 32 to move within five points of Pittsburgh for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Martin Jones made 13 saves but the Sharks were shut out for the fifth time this season. San Jose lost for just the second time in seven games and remained four points behind first-place Los Angeles and three in back of Anaheim in the Pacific Division (see full recap).
