Columbus Blue Jackets forward Jared Boll has been suspended four games without pay for his late hit on Flyers forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare during Tuesday's game at Nationwide Arena in Columbus.
The hit earned Boll a major penalty for interference and a game misconduct. The Flyers did not score on the ensuing power play and went on to eventually lose in a shootout, 3-2.
Boll is considered a repeat offender under the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement and the suspension will cost him $82,927. Boll was suspended three games last season for a hit to the head of Anaheim's Patrick Maroon. He was also fined in 2012 for a hit to the head of San Jose's Joe Thornton.
Bellemare was not injured and stayed in the game.
