As if the NHL awards, 2011 draft and efforts to nail down a contract with goalie Ilya Bryzgalov werent enough, the Flyers have a bit more news: the teams complete 2011-12 schedule was released by the NHL Thursday afternoon.

The highlight of the schedule, of course, is confirmation that the Flyers will in fact face the Rangers on Jan. 2, 2012, in the Winter Classic. Despite early rumors to the contrary, the event will be a matinee: Puck drop is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Flyers' season will open on the road in an arena all too familiar. On Oct. 6, the Flyers will face the defending Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins at TD Garden. From there, they'll take on division rivals the New Jersey Devils in Newark before breaking in the Wells Fargo Center against the team that came up just shy of a Cup win, the Vancouver Canucks.

Fans in Philadelphia won't have to wait long to see the NHL's newest addition, the as-of-yet unnamed team from Winnipeg, who will travel to Philadelphia on Oct. 27. The Flyers will first travel to Winnipeg on Nov. 19.

The schedule concludes April 7 in Pittsburgh, which could add an extra element of intrigue to the Flyers' springthe team plays just four games in April, and two of them are against the Pens at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
