The Flyers are on a season-best four-game point streak and will find out a little more about themselves this weekend.
A challenging back-to-back road set begins Saturday night when the Flyers (8-5-2) visit the Maple Leafs (9-5-3).
Let's get into the essentials:
• When: 7 p.m. ET with Flyers Pregame Live at 6:30 p.m. ET
• Where: Scotiabank Arena
• Broadcast: NBC Sports Philadelphia
• Live stream: NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com and the NBC Sports MyTeams app
• Even with the back-to-back clunkers against the Islanders (5-3 loss) and Penguins (7-1 loss), the Flyers have put together a solid nine-game stretch since Oct. 21.
Among the NHL over that span, the Flyers are second in goals (34) and faceoff win percentage (54.6), tied for second in wins (six) and points (13), third in shots (309) and fourth in penalty kill percentage (89.3).
During this 6-2-1 spurt, Jakub Voracek has nine points, Travis Konecny, Oskar Lindblom, James van Riemsdyk and Claude Giroux have eight points apiece, while Ivan Provorov and Matt Niskanen have been a combined plus-13.
NHL
This weekend, though, should really test the Flyers. The Maple Leafs have won three straight, are a top-10 goal-scoring club and have John Tavares back. The Bruins are 11-3-2, 7-0-1 at home and have the NHL's leading scorer in David Pastrnak (15 goals, 15 assists).
Are the Flyers in the midst of taking a big step? We'll see.
• Tavares, who missed the Maple Leafs' 4-3 shootout win over the Flyers last Saturday because of a finger injury, has 19 goals in 45 career games against the orange and black. The 29-year-old center has scored more goals against only one other NHL team: the Hurricanes (25).
• The Flyers are 6-1-1 at home compared to 2-4-1 away from the Wells Fargo Center. On the road, the Flyers have been outscored 27-17.
Over their last five games in Toronto, the Flyers have allowed 25 goals (five per game).
