Flyers center Sean Couturier and backup goalie Michal Neuvirth are both listed as day to day with upper-body injuries, general manager Ron Hextall announced late Thursday afternoon.
Both players appeared to sustain head injuries in the Flyers' 5-4 overtime win over the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night.
Couturier exited the game after absorbing a nasty hit from Zac Rinaldo seconds before the first-period horn sounded. Rinaldo may have targeted Couturier's chest and didn't appear to leave his feet, but his follow through came up high. Couturier's neck snapped back viciously after Rinaldo's shoulder made contact with his head.
The 22-year-old remained on the ice for a few minutes but was able to leave it under his own power. He did not, however, return to the game.
The Flyers exercised extreme caution with Couturier, who is suspected to have sustained either a concussion and/or whiplash from the contact.
Rinaldo was tossed after referees assessed him a five-minute major for charging and 10-minute misconduct. The former Flyer, who has zero points and 25 penalty minutes this season, did manage to avoid supplemental discipline from the NHL, though (see story).
In six games this season, Couturier has a goal and two assists for the Flyers.

Neuvirth, starting the second game of a back-to-back situation, was also injured in the first period. Patrice Bergeron's stick struck Neuvirth in the face on the play that resulted in Bergeron's goal, which tied the game at 2-2 with less than three minutes remaining in the frame.
The 27-year-old took longer than usual to get back to his skates, appearing to favor the top of his head. He was responsible for two goals allowed, but made 10 saves in his 20 minutes of ice time.
Steve Mason replaced Neuvirth at the start of the second period and finished the game for the Flyers. He made 16 saves on 18 shots, including a critical acrobatic stop in the third period that jump-started the Flyers' comeback, and eventually picked up the win, his first of the season.
Neuvirth, signed in the offseason to a two-year deal, has been impressive in his first four appearances with the Flyers. He's posted a .947 save percentage and 1.55 goals-against average in 193 total minutes played. He also recorded back-to-back shutouts in his first two starts — against the Florida Panthers and Chicago Blackhawks — with the club last week.
In other injury news, forward Brayden Schenn remains day to day with an upper-body ailment. He took part in Wednesday's morning skate but was a late scratch against Boston.
Schenn took a scary fall during the Flyers' 2-1 loss to Dallas on Tuesday. He was upended by Stars forward Antoine Roussel at center ice and landed awkwardly on his head/left shoulder.
The 24-year-old has a pair of goals and an assist in five games this season.
The Flyers had a complete off day on Thursday. They'll be back on the ice for practice at the Skate Zone in Voorhees, New Jersey at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
