The Flyers on Thursday returned goalie Jason LaBarbera to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
The move should not come as a surprise. The Flyers don't play again until Tuesday and the Phantoms face a back-to-back situation this weekend.
LaBarbera started Lehigh Valley's lone game, making 22 saves in the Phantoms' season-opening 4-3 loss to the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday.
Sending LaBarbera back to the minors also indicates that Steve Mason could be ready to rejoin the Flyers full-time. After starting the first two games of the season on the road, Mason missed both of the team's home games this week while dealing with a personal family matter.
Mason, who is 0-1-1 with a 6.09 goals-against average and .825 save percentage in 2015-16, took part in Wednesday's morning skate before the Flyers' 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks but was not available for the game.
Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol gave the entire team Thursday off. They'll be back on the ice for practice at the Skate Zone in Voorhees, New Jersey on Friday.
LaBarbera, recalled earlier this week to replace Mason, served as Michal Neuvirth's backup against Florida and Chicago. Neuvirth didn't allow a goal in either of those games, joining Jeff Hackett as just the second goalie in Flyers history to record a shutout in each of his first two starts with the club.

Neuvirth, who signed a two-year deal with the Flyers in July, also appeared in Saturday's 7-1 loss to the Panthers. He relieved Mason early in the first period and gave up three goals on 22 shots in over 53 minutes of ice time.
In all, Neuvirth is 2-0-0 with a 1.04 goals-against average and .964 save percentage for the Flyers this season.
