While the Flyers have been extremely hot and cold so far in 2019-20, they've played well on home ice.
The Flyers (6-5-1) will look to keep that going Saturday when they welcome the Maple Leafs (6-5-3).
Let's get into the essentials:
• When: 7 p.m. ET with Flyers Pregame Live at 6:30 p.m. ET
• Where: Wells Fargo Center
• Broadcast: NBC Sports Philadelphia
• Live stream: NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com and the NBC Sports MyTeams app
• The Flyers are 4-1-0 at home (including the win in Prague) with 4.40 goals per game compared to 2.60 against.
With a victory Saturday, the Flyers will have their best start at home since 2007-08, when the team won its first six home games.
Last season, the Flyers went 19-18-4 at the Wells Fargo Center, giving them their fewest home wins over a full season since the 2006-07 campaign.
NHL
In 2018-19, playing at the Wells Fargo Center had become like a pressure-cooker for the Flyers. It's a good sign that the Flyers look much more confident in front of their fans.
• Keep an eye on Sean Couturier, who uncharacteristically took only three faceoffs in Friday night's 4-3 shootout win over the Devils. He told reporters in Newark, New Jersey, that he's not 100 percent healthy. However, the Flyers need him right now and he's giving them a ton. He's also one of the NHL's best in the dot, so let's see what he's able to do tonight.
• Claude Giroux owns 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists) in 34 career games against the Maple Leafs. Toronto plays an up-and-down style that is conducive to Giroux's open-ice playmaking ability.
• The Maple Leafs have lost eight of their last 12 games after starting the season 2-0-0. John Tavares (finger) has played only eight games and won't face the Flyers.
A guy that sort of gets overlooked is William Nylander, who has four goals and four assists in nine career matchups with the Flyers.
• Former Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol makes his first return to the Wells Fargo Center since being fired by the club in December of last season.
