The Flyers will open the 2021-22 regular season with a 21-man roster.
A result of their tight salary cap situation and opening the season on a four-game homestand, the Flyers won't have a healthy extra player at any position to start the campaign.
Kevin Hayes is the club's lone extra player. The second-line center could miss nine to 10 games, more or less, as he recovers from abdominal surgery.

With their depth up front taking a hit because of injuries, the Flyers decided on their 12th and final forward Monday. They claimed Patrick Brown off of waivers from the Golden Knights.
As the Flyers submitted their roster by Monday's 5 p.m. ET deadline, their final cuts were Cam York, Nick Seeler, Jackson Cates and Garrett Wilson. All four will head to AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley.
Samuel Morin will begin the season on injured reserve. On Sept. 21, the Flyers listed Morin (knee) as out for six to eight weeks.
Wade Allison, Tanner Laczynski, Egor Zamula, Cooper Zech, Zayde Wisdom and Ryan Fitzgerald were placed on the injured non-roster list. Zamula practiced Sunday and head coach Alain Vigneault said the defenseman was cleared, so he should soon head to the Phantoms.
