Flyers re-sign Swedish depth winger to 1-year deal

Linus Sandin has played one NHL game in his career, making his debut back in January this season.

He'll be vying for more games with the Flyers in 2022-23.

The club re-signed the Swedish winger to a one-year, two-way, $750,000 contract Monday. Sandin was a pending restricted free agent. His new deal marks his third with the Flyers, who originally signed him out of the Swedish Elite League in April 2020.

Sandin, who turned 26 years old last Thursday, had 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) in 36 games this season for AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley.

He debuted with the big club Jan. 25 when the Flyers' franchise-worst losing streak hit 13 games in a 4-3 decision to the Islanders. Sandin recorded a shot and two blocked shots in 6:59 minutes.

Sandin is a solid forechecker and works well in the slot. He's projected to open next season with the Phantoms and will push to provide depth in the Flyers' bottom six.
