From ceremony to grilled cheese, Flyers have big plans for Giroux's 1,000th game

Mike Yeo said one of the main messages for the Flyers' next game revolves around the team's captain.

"Let's make this special for G," the interim head coach said Tuesday after practice.

When the Flyers host the Predators on Thursday (7 p.m. ET/NBCSP), Claude Giroux will play in his 1,000th career game. He'll join Hall of Famer Bob Clarke as the only two players to suit up for 1,000 games in a Flyers jersey.

"That's a real amazing accomplishment, to play 1,000 games with one organization, to play them the way that he did, to add what he's added to this organization," Yeo said. "Let's celebrate that and let's celebrate it with a great game."

The game comes four days before the trade deadline and with uncertainty about Giroux's future in Philadelphia.

Giroux's teammates want to make Thursday a special night and it sure looks like the organization does, too.

The Flyers have plenty planned to honor their captain's achievement. A pregame ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. ET and the Flyers are encouraging fans to arrive early. Puck drop is set for 7:16 p.m. ET.
