Konecny, just as he's heating up, exits with injury against Flames

Just as Travis Konecny started to go on another run offensively, he was knocked out of action by a big hit.

The Flyers' leading goal scorer and point man exited Monday's game against the Flames with 6:19 minutes left in the second period and did not return. Konecny was checked in the back by Calgary defenseman MacKenzie Weegar.

After the 25-year-old winger was a tad slow getting back to his feet, he went immediately up the tunnel next to the Flyers' bench at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta. Head athletic trainer Tommy Alva was by the side of Konecny, who was visibly in distress.

The club announced Konecny suffered an upper-body injury. He was deemed unlikely to return to the game, which may be a decent sign for his status moving forward.

Losing Konecny for any period of time would be absolutely damaging to the Flyers. They've struggled to generate offense for much of the season, particularly of late.

Prior to leaving during the second period, Konecny had a goal and an assist in the game. He has a new career high in goals with 27 and has topped his point total from last season with 54.

Through three games of the Flyers' four-game road trip, Konecny has put up five points (three goals, two assists).
