Flyers vs. Kings: Preview, game time, TV info, lineup and more

Mike Yeo and company kick off 2022 with a trip to Los Angeles on New Year's Day.

Looking to get back in the win column and extend their point streak, the Flyers (13-12-6) visit the Kings (15-12-5) on Saturday night.

• The Flyers will be without Carter Hart, Scott Laughton and Derick Brassard for one more game on their four-game road trip.

Hart, Laughton and Brassard exited the NHL's COVID protocol and will join the club in Anaheim, California, when it wraps up its West Coast swing Tuesday against the Ducks (10 p.m. ET/NBCSP).

The only lineup change for the Flyers tonight will be Kevin Connauton replacing Nick Seeler on defense.

Konecny takes the ice, Atkinson stays off with lower-body injury

• Martin Jones will start in net for the Flyers.

With the Sharks last season, Jones played the Kings a lot. He went 6-2-0 against Los Angeles with a 2.64 goals-against average, .923 save percentage and one shutout.

Jones has played well of late, winning his last three starts with 91 saves on 99 shots. He's coming off a 34-save effort in the Flyers' 3-2 OT win Wednesday over the Kraken.

"He's been playing great," Claude Giroux said Saturday after the team's morning skate in Los Angeles. "He's giving us a chance to win every game. The game in Seattle, we don't win that game if Jonesy doesn't stand on his head. He's been playing great for us and hopefully tonight we can play better in front of him."

• Despite falling to the Sharks, 3-2, in overtime Thursday, the Flyers pushed their season-best point streak to seven games (5-0-2).

In the back-to-back set against Seattle and San Jose, the Flyers were outshot heavily at 82-47.

The Flyers would like to alleviate some pressure off of their goaltenders in the back half of this road trip.

"We don't shoot the puck nearly enough," Yeo said Saturday. "It's a mindset that we're trying to build. We're playing against a team here tonight that's going to play off the shot first. We seem to look for something else first and then quite often we run out of the option to shoot the puck. So we have to play off the shot-first mentality and I think that that could obviously change the look of the shot clock drastically."
