Elliot Desnoyers was excited to have more on his plate in 2020-21.
He sure looks hungry and didn't leave any leftovers Saturday night in Halifax's 10-2 drubbing of Cape Breton.
The Flyers' 2020 fifth-round draft pick put up four goals for the Mooseheads. Entering Sunday, the 5-foot-10, 183-pound forward was tied for third in the QMJHL with six goals and tied for sixth with 12 points through eight games.

"I think my role changed a lot," Desnoyers said on Oct. 7. "Last year, I had such a great team, we were going for the [President] Cup and I learned a lot from it. This year with Halifax, it’s a new opportunity for me, just being a part of the leader group. For sure, it’s going to be different in a good way for me."
Last season, Desnoyers was a bit hidden on a loaded Moncton Wildcats team that led the QMJHL with 101 points at 50-13-1. Before this season, he was traded to Halifax. So far, he has jumped all over a bigger role. Flyers fans will get to know Desnoyers more and more. He's a fan of the "Rocky" movies, can play center or winger and is a competitive, well-rounded, two-way player.
"Desnoyers is another player that didn’t have a very prominent role on his junior team last year, but this year has a much bigger role," Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher said on Oct. 7. "Has a lot of character, has good hockey sense. He was a skilled player coming up and will get a chance to show his skill this year, as well."

John Torchetti, who worked in the Wild organization under Flyers assistant general manager Brent Flahr and Fletcher when the two were in Minnesota, was Moncton's head coach and director of hockey operations for a part of last season. He told Flahr to keep an eye on Desnoyers. The Flyers traded their two seventh-round selections to move up into the fifth round and grab the 18-year-old from Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec.
"I think I’m a big complement player," Desnoyers said. "I’m the kind of guy that’s not necessarily going to be the most flashy on the first line. But for sure I’ll help everywhere else. I’ll be able to compete every night and make the players around me better. Wherever coaches will want me, I will do my job. I will work hard and compete every day."
