Ty Murchison was recently playing in a roller hockey tournament with Flyers prospect Cam York.
Little did Murchison know that he'd be joining York as a prospect in the Flyers' system.
With the 2021 fifth-round pick the club acquired in the Michael Raffl trade during April, the Flyers selected Murchison at 158th overall on Saturday.

"I do know Cam a bit," Murchison said Saturday. "I haven't asked him about the Flyers, but I definitely will now. I think he'll be a good guy to look to to see his development, how his path is and hopefully I can replicate what he does."
Murchison is a 6-foot-2, 192-pounder who gets after it. In 48 games for the U.S. national team development program under-18 squad, he had 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) and a plus-9 mark.
"Good size, very good mobility, plays an aggressive style," Flyers assistant general manager Brent Flahr said Saturday. "He's going to have to probably learn to tone things down a little bit as far as picking his spots when to be aggressive. But a kid that comes to play, plays hard and brings an aggressive nature, which is great. ... He was really excited to be drafted today."

Murchison, a lefty shot who will play at Arizona State in 2021-22, said he had never been to Philadelphia.
"I'm excited to get out there and hopefully one day call it home," he said.
