Report: Flyers-Penguins to play outdoor game Feb. 18 at Heinz Field

It looks like the Flyers and Penguins are finally going outside.

An outdoor game on Feb. 18, 2017, between the Flyers and Penguins at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh could be announced by the NHL as soon as Wednesday, according to a report by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

On Feb. 5, a league source told CSNPhilly.com's Tim Panaccio that the NHL was working toward scheduling a Flyers-Penguins outdoor game.

It appears to be a home-and-home series as the Flyers in 2019 will host the Penguins in an outdoor at either Lincoln Financial Field or Citizens Bank Park, according to a report Wednesday by the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Flyers have played two outdoor games in the past — the 2010 Winter Classic at Fenway Park and 2012 Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park.
