Source: Flyers' Michal Neuvirth has torn meniscus in left knee

Flyers goalie Michal Neuvirth has a torn meniscus in his left knee and is out for the regular season, a league source tells CSNPhilly.com's Tim Panaccio.

According to the source, Neuvirth had an MRI on Monday that revealed the extent of the injury.

Neuvirth was expected to start last Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Penguins, but GM Ron Hextall said that Neuvirth "didn't feel right" prior to the game. The Flyers put Neuvirth on injured reserve with a lower-body injury following the contest. The team said he will miss three weeks.

Rookie Anthony Stolarz was recalled from the Phantoms and may make his NHL debut given how demanding the Flyers' upcoming schedule is. The Flyers are in Brooklyn on Monday night to take on the Islanders. They play four games in five days this week and Steve Mason has started six of the last seven.

Signed to backup Mason, Neuvirth has had a spectacular season. The 27 year old was enjoying arguably his best NHL campaign, posting a 17-8-4 record, a career-best 2.28 goals against average and .925 save percentage.
