Joel Embiid hints he'll play basketball in 2016-17, calls trolls clowns

Joel Embiid is well aware his stat line on NBA.com reads a bunch of zeroes and he's had more surgeries than he's played professional basketball games.

But that's about to change … in a few months, according to the Sixers' big man.

The tweet appears to be in response to trolls who were punching away on their iPhone screens after Embiid was live-tweeting the NBA Finals and Copa America Centenario.

What we've learned about Embiid during this long rehab process is that he's charismatic, one of the best Philly athlete social media follows and loves Shirley Temples

Embiid is finally expected to make his NBA debut this season after missing his first two years in the league because of navicular bone injury in his right foot.

We learned Friday that Embiid has a 99-to-100 percent chance of not playing in the Summer League, according to Bryan Colangelo, so we won't see the Sixers' 2014 first-round pick play during the summer, but come the fall, we should finally see what he is made of — on the basketball court.

Back to Friday night. The best part of his latest Twitter gem was the hashtag #CLOWNS. So let's take a look at some of the haters.

But not all of Twitterverse was upset Embiid was watching sports like the rest of them. This user just wants Embiid to answer his ALS ice bucket challenge.
