Phillies owner John Middleton told reporters on Saturday that their star catcher will hit free agency once October ends. He too claims he didn’t want to trade top prospect Sixto Sanchez unless they resigned Realmuto.
John Middleton had a pretty remarkable 29-minute session with the media Saturday night to discuss Matt Klentak's stepping down as Phillies GM.
Middleton spoke early about the Phillies' 100-year problem of evaluating talent and ended by stating plainly that he was on board with the Sixto Sanchez-for-Realmuto trade only under the expectation that the Phillies would extend Realmuto.
