MIAMIAccording to a baseball source, the Phillies are in serious talks with the Baltimore Orioles about a potential trade involving Jim Thome.

The Orioles are in the market for a designated hitter and the Phillies are willing to deal Thome to a club where he could fill that role.

Thome, 41, has 609 career homers. He was the Phillies DH in nine straight interleague games earlier this month and hit .333 (12 for 36) with four homers, 14 RBIs and a 1.137 OPS. With interleague play complete, Thome has been relegated to a pinch-hitting role.

Thome was in the Phillies dugout for Saturdays game in Miami.
