Al Horford agrees to four-year contract with Sixers, team source confirms

One of Joel Embiid's toughest opponents over the past couple of seasons will be joining forces with Embiid in the frontcourt.

Al Horford has agreed to a four-year, $109 million deal with the Sixers, a team source confirmed. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news. Horford's contract has $97 million guaranteed and $12 million in bonuses.

The 33-year-old Horford is a five-time All-Star. He averaged 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game over the past three seasons as a center for the Celtics. Those numbers don't do justice to his impact, as Sixers fans know.

Horford is a stellar defensive player who gave Embiid trouble in their matchups. He's shot 37.1 percent from three-point range in the last four seasons and will likely be asked to stretch the floor as a power forward in Philadelphia alongside Embiid in addition to backing him up.
