Chase Utley's Knee Is Not Getting Better

Share

Since Chase Utley received a cortisone shot in his knee late last week, every Phillies fan and reporter alike was waiting for word about Chase starting to feel better. As the weekend passed and this week began, it became more and more clear that no news was likely bad news.

Today, Ruben Amaro Jr. and Phillies trainer Scott Sheridan spoke to reporters to try and further explain Chase's injury. The problem is, they don't seem to know exactly how to fix it. Will he need surgery? The Phillies don't really seem to know. How long will it take to heal completely? The Phillies don't really seem to know. Could he miss opening day? Could he miss an extended amount of time?

The bottom line seems to be they simply don't know, but they're looking for second opinions and trying to find the best way to deal with the situation.

No news, in this case, appears to have been bad news.
