Cole Hamels has agreed to a one-year deal with the Phillies worth a reported $15 million and will avoid having to head to the arbitration table, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.
We touched on Hamels and the Phillies not going in the direction of a longterm deal about a week ago, and our feelings remain the same. Hamels could pitch his way into a gigantic contract next offseason by putting up a dominant year, something he's very capable of doing. We just hope that next contract is in Philadelphia.
