Mets Fan Who Joined On-Field No-Hitter Celebration Jailed, Misses Son's 1st Birthday Party

The jorts-wearing Mets fan who ran onto the field to celebrate with the team after Johan Santana finalized the franchise's first no-hitter* in their 51-year existence spent two nights in jail and has been banned from Citi Field for life. His cousin also tried running out there, but security got him before he made it very far, so Diaz wasn't alone in holding. Not too surprising, and a good reminder that if you run onto the field, they don't just escort you to the gates after removing you from the field. But, while waiting two nights for a judge to release him, Rafael Diaz also missed the first birthday of his son. Ouch.
Imagine coming home from a baseball game two days late to a wife who just had to tell all her friends and family that you couldn't be at your kid's first birthday because you were in jail. Hope it's a comfy couch, Raf.
