ESPN's Jayson Stark tweeted on Tuesday that if the Phillies fail to come to terms with Carlos Ruiz, their next option could be longtime White Sox and most recently Texas Rangers catcher A.J. Pierzynski.
His age of 36 would help him fit in with the current Phillies roster. He'll be 37 when next season starts.
He appeared in 136 games last season and hit .272 with an OPS of .722 with 17 HRs and 70 RBIs. Many believe this rumor getting tossed out there is posturing on Amaro's part in an attempt to get Chooch's agent to come down on his current demands.
