Report: Chip Kelly to meet with Eagles

Speculation that the Eagles are interested in kicking the tires of Oregon coach Chip Kelly has been out there for several weeks, if not months.

Wednesday, the first report surfaced that the Eagles have an arrangement to meet with the Godfather of the Spread Offense.

The Eagles are among three NFL teams that have interviews planned for Kelly, according to a report from Mike Garafolo of USA Today that cited an anonymous source informed of Kellys plan. The Browns and Bills are also in the mix, the report said.

It appears a showdown between Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie and his estranged business partner, Browns CEO Joe Banner, is potentially brewing, especially if both shot callers are impressed enough to make offers.

The Eagles are not commenting on any reports or speculation of their interest in college coaches, according to a team spokesperson. Kellys agent, David Dunn, couldnt be reached for comment.

Kelly will coach Oregon (11-1) against Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl on Thursday night. Known as an offensive innovator, Kelly has led the Ducks to a 45-7 record in his four seasons as Oregons head coach. He was a candidate last year for Tampa Bays head coach vacancy.
