Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter announced today that the city has declared a snow emergency as of 4:00 pm due to the heavy snow and freezing temperatures hitting the area.
Word from the Flyers beat writers earlier in the day was that the Carolina Hurricanes were hoping to avoid a cancellation of tonight's contest in South Philly and play it as originally scheduled at 7:00 pm. Snow trumped the Hurricanes. The NHL announced shortly after 3:25 pm that the game will be postponed.
The National Hockey League today announced that tonight’s game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia has been postponed. The date on which the game will be made up has yet to be determined.
