Another job at a major basketball program is vacant, so naturally Jay Wright is being mentioned as a potential candidate.

Wright isn't leaving Villanova.

According to a source, the Wildcats' head coach is not a candidate to fill the recently vacated position at Maryland.

The Maryland job opened after 66-year-old Gary Williams retired on Friday. He spent 22 years coaching at his alma mater.

Wright took over the Villanova basketball program in 2001 and has brought a winner to the Main Line.

Since taking over in the 2001-02 season, Wright boasts a 224-110 record, which also included a 30-8 season in 2008-09 in the team's only final four appearance during the Wright era.

Villanova has also reached the NCAA tournament seven times under Wright.

After starting last season with a 16-1 record, the Wildcats struggled down the stretch, losing their last five games before the NCAA tournament. They then lost to George Mason in the first round of the NCAA tournament, 61-57.
